I was introduced to this anime series by a friend who is also interested in watching. She said that I will like it and to give it a try. So I watched the first episode and found it very intriguing. The story is interesting because it is a unique take on a battle royal anime. For those who don’t know what a battle royal anime is, it is an anime that pits the main character to battle to the death for a special price. The main characters in this anime are death row inmates and their executioners. They are sent to a special island to find Elixir of Life. The island is full of insects with a funny looking face. These insects are deadly. Some of the death row inmates and executioners start killing each other when they get to the island. Some form an alliance with each other to find the elixir. What would you do in this situation? The series is a pretty intense and gory anime. Our main character, Gabimaru the Hollow, and his executioner are opposites. Gabimaru is only using violence when it is necessary while his executioner has no hesitation to decapitate him. They made a mutual understanding to each other.
